Building Essential Skills ... One S.T.E.P. at a Time
Our name says it all! At Skills Training for Employment Preparation (S.T.E.P.), our customized programs have always integrated work on Essential Skills for identified occupational goals. We now offer focused, stand-alone Essential Skills programs as well.
|
|
After building foundational skills in our specialized academic and functional training programs, we target job-specific Essential Skills for Reading Text, Writing, Document Use, Oral Communication, Numeracy and Computer use, as applicable. All of our programs also build Thinking Skills and other important work habits.
Other comprehensive Essential Skills instruction is available for trainees who have achieved minimal functional literacy levels or Canadian Language Benchmarks 5/6 as ESL learners, but who would still benefit from personalized, 1:1 training in Essential Skills due to special learning needs.
To evaluate key Essential Skills, S.T.E.P. is an authorized Third Party Test Administration site for the Test of Workplace Essential Skills (TOWES).
